Mkhitaryan has announced the release of  Brush Snare, his latest free sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt featuring the sounds of a jazz snare drum performed with a brush mallet.

“Introducing a small but useful pack called Brush Snare by Mkhitaryan. This small pack includes 5 snare brush drums recorded in a home studio. Snare drum is the most important part of the drum kit! Brush mallet is giving a special sound of jazz!”

The download pack also features individual samples in WAV and AIFF format, so people who don’t useKontakt will still be able to use these sounds in their favorite sampler. Apart from the basic snare sounds, the pack also contains a small collection of additional samples which capture different articulations.

Mkhitaryan has sampled five different snare drums for this freebie pack. Each snare drum is represented with up to eight velocity layers and you’ll also fidn an additional collection of rimshot samples with four layers. The included samples sound very nice.

There really aren’t too many velocity layers available, so it would be hard to get a natural sound in some advanced jazz tunes. But for simple drum loops and layering on top of other snare sounds, this little sound collection is indeed a very good pick!
