TR-808 fever continues; now MVStudio team presents another emulation of Roland’s drum machine, but with a new approach to iOS.
The MV08, promises the sound of the vintage drum machine, but with a graphic panel adapted to Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
MV08 adds panorama and tone parameters to each voice of this emulation, also offers two editable send effects for each voice, along with a three-band master equalizer and a novel distortion effect. The app comes with more than 200 samples recorded at 16bit / 44.4kHz with 128 user patterns, spread over eight 16-pattern banks.

All controls of each instrument can be sequenced at each step, for many possibilities to rythm creation, you can also achieve powerful bass lines. The length of each pattern is variable between one and 64 steps, while its resolution is 16 or 32 steps, to create complex times and loops. According to developer James Milton Apps, are features that were never possible in a Roland TR-808 original.
MV08 is compatible with Audiobus, Inter-App Audio and Ableton Link standards, so there are no compatibility issues for what you use in your studio.
The legendary Roland TR-808 drum machine resurrects in its boutique version, arriving on “808 Day” (8-August). The new TR-08 is a digital replica from original TR-808 with its classic look and controls.
The new TR-08 has the Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) digital technology, which models the analog circuits at the level of each component, recreating the “details and anomalies” of the original TR-808. The control panel retains the same buttons, switches and dials as the TR-808, although it has a small size like others units from Roland Boutique family.
Among its additions, a sequencer of 16 substeps per step is now offered to create sequences with more detailed and complex fillings with rolls. The unit is compatible with external equipment and modular synth through voltage control. It also offers USB connection to process its 10 voices separately and audio / MIDI connections.
Check promo below.
Each of these voices offers the classic editing controls present in the original 808 to modify aspects such as pitch, length, timbre or color, along with compression or panning effects, for some of the instruments.
The TR-08 offers LED display with tempo and shuffle information. You can program in steps or play parts in real time without stopping to change modes.
The TR-08 got all the features of the Boutique range such as USB bus power or batteries and integrated speaker. Also, is compatible with DK-01 Boutique Dock, which allows adjusting the viewing angle of the panel.
Price: 399 euros.

The company Klipsch will prepare the launch of two new low-cost speakers.
The speakers are part of the Atmos range:
The Klipsch R-26FA Dolby Atmos is a low-priced reference range version of the company’s RP-280SA speaker. It features built-in elevation channel reflection, which essentially reflects the sound of the ceiling to create a “immersion experience”.
Price: $ 599 (1 speaker)
Klipsch R-14SA is designed as part of the Klipsch sound system, allows you to add a lift channel to your configuration without having to buy completely new speakers for this.
Now, with the revival of the vinyl record, Spinbox arrives. A portable turntable that you can assemble in a few minutes. In the box is offered the turntable, audio and power circuitry, amplifier and speakers, all pieces that you can put together to build it, plug it in and then play your vinyl records.
The record player is part of a project in Kickstarter, with a target of $ 30,000 Spinbox has already $ 150,000. After having been presented last year, with a launch of 4,000 units with another crowdfounding campaign of three months; Spinbox, has all the guarantees of a finished design that works perfectly. It is customizable, and is offered in black, marble and brown cardboard finishes (other colors to come).
Spinbox, will be sold at $ 99 per unit, its developers also offer volume packages for schools or stores, and their first shipments are expected for November 2017.
Moog‘s team updated their Minitaur analog synthesizer to version 3.2.
The update is free to provide new sound design tools and features that include new LFO waveforms, sample and hold, filter envelope as modulation source and oscillator synchronization, with the ability to modulate Oscillator 2 that extends the sound capabilities of this synth.
The Minitaur Editor / Librarian has also been updated. Now offers full support for Windows. Allows you to save up to 128 presets directly in your Minitaur. You can select from 6 different modulation sources, use hard synchronization, and access all new sound design features.
Regahas presented an update on his turntable RP6. Now features a new design, the Planar 6 / Neo PSU shares only the RB330 arm and hinged plastic cover of its predecessor.
Most striking is its external “Neo” power source, previously seen in the more expensive RP10 model, designed to provide constant power to the turntable. This means that it will rotate at the exact and precise speed you want, regardless of fluctuations in the mains current that are unavoidable from any outlet, providing smooth and consistent sound.
The turntable comes in matte gray also includes a precision hand made RB330 stainless steel arm. The Planar 6 and Neo PSU will be sold for £ 998, while the Planar 6 & Neo PSU with with cartridge are sold at retail at £ 1398.
