Iridium Iris Software has announced that their Lethality virtual electric guitar instrument in VSTi plugin format for Windows is now re-released as freeware.

“We have decided to release the Lethality Electric Guitar VST plugin for FREE because we will not keep any support for this product any longer. And we will not update it anymore because we are working with focus on other plugins.”

The plugin was first released back in January 2014 and was priced at €26 at the time. Since the instrument won’t be updated anymore, the developers have decided to offer it as a free download on their website.

The last update (v1.1.2) was released in March. The developers will continue working on other products and Lethality will remain freeware in the future, although without any official support from the developers.

Although the power chords and heavy riffs don’t sound too convincing, the picked notes and clean solos sound pretty good. I’ll have to see how the instrument works in practice in order to decide whether it’s a keeper or not, but I really like what I’ve heard so far. Please leave a comment letting me know what you think about this virtual guitar instrument if you take it for a test drive!

To get your free copy of Lethality, visit the page linked below and proceed to free checkout. You’ll be prompted to submit your name and email address. The developers have also released a small collection of power chords in SFZ format. It is available for free download on the page linked below.

Lethality is available for free download via Iridium Iris Software (59.1 MB download size, ZIP archive, available in 32-bit & 64-bit VSTi plugin format for Windows).
