Native Instruments adds a new expansion to its Maschine platform, this time with a gear dedicated to 8-bit sounds and chiptune.
Byte Riot covers everything from drum samples to chords and arpeggios, all sounds were created by Ivo Ivanov and Alex Retsis, designers of the company of samples and effects Glitchmachines.
The duo used a combination of modified video game consoles, along with circuit-bent units and vintage oscillators. The package also includes MIDI patterns based on the music of classic arcade games. It also features several Nintendo Game Boy games, Windows instruments played through the Sega Mega Drive YM2612 FM chip and arpeggiators driven through Commodore 64 SID chips.
The expansion also includes presets for NI Massive and Monark synthesizers as well as 43 drum synth patches. The package costs $ 49 / £ 44 from the NI website.
